Create your own Animated Text Background

Have you ever seen the music videos using text to play as the lyrics, or animating a quotation that looks absolutely amazing?  We had a few subscribers ask about how anyone would be able to do this and what programs they’d need to make their own.  Most of our subscribers have PowerPoint 2010, so we used this to create a few backgrounds completely made from text and then converted to video using PowerPoint 2010’s “Save As WMV” feature.

If you have any requests for tutorials, let us know and we’ll put them on the “To Do” list.

Do you have any plans in the future to make your animations available in Google Docs? I know that is their issue, but I thought maybe a request might help.

    • Kara Jones says:

Unfortunately , Google Docs do not support any animation in their version of PowerPoint, regardless of if it’s a template or simply an animated GIF inserted into the presentation. If they do begin to support animations however, we will definitely investigate our options.

  2. Well now – another inspirational tutorial. Thanks for keeping the creative juices flowing.

You mention that the animating text is for powerpoint 2010, but can I use it with keynote on mac?

    • Kara Jones says:

It’ll work on the Mac and for Keynote, as they both have the ability to “Save As” MOV/Quicktime. The difference between 2010 and 2007 specifically is that the 2007 version of PowerPoint won’t allow you to simply “Save As” a WMV. I’ll add a mention on the Mac/Keynote as well on the tutorial page, thanks for mentioning it!
