Embedding Animations in Email

Posted on: Apr, 2013 By: Art Holden

Today we are taking a look at how to embed an animated GIF into your e-mail program.    You may skip to the 1:00 minute mark if you're only interested in the visual (rather than the introduction).   Here is what it breaks down to:

Internet Browser based E-mail applications (Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook online, Gmail) are all able to have animations embedded into them and play normally (they'll show up lined up with your text just the way the email started out).  Non-browser based E-mail applications such as Outlook that comes with Microsoft Office, will not allow animations which are embedded into them to play, or be saved as animated items.  You can open the animation in a web browser, which would open a separate window from the program and play only the animation, however this does not allow it to play nicely with all the text.
